12st Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity_Session Organized by JPI

“New Leadership with New Partners in Asia”
(Wed. 5/31, 13:00-14:30)

The advent of the Trump administration means a transformation of American foreign policy. The U.S. will improve the relations with Russia while it will adopt a hard line approach toward China. On the other hand, the U.S. under Trump pays more attention on improving trade balance with traditional allies such as South Korea and Japan rather than on facilitating cooperation in security issue. This session will discuss the regional order under the American leadership in East Asia in general and the American foreign policy on the Korean peninsula and denuclearization of North Korea in specific.
